Procurement- Are you spending more than you should

Situation: A leading medical device manufacturer was interested in refining the purchasing and supply department to create cost reductions. The purchasing department managed a small percentage of total purchases. Buyers had low levels of experience and did not allocate their time effectively. This situation created risks for the company through poor contracting and openned the possibility of financial distress.
Response:
A comprehensive approach to this situation would begin with a  full procurement assessment to explore opportunities for procurement optimization.  This analysis would then be discussed with the client to determine if opportunities are aligned with the company’s strategy, and if investment or reorganization is required.  After the correct action is agreed on, a plan for action will be created to ensure a smooth transition.
